Social media users are calling out the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh Dompreh, after he described President John Dramani Mahama as a dead goat during a campaign event.
While speaking to NPP delegates during Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Eastern Region, Annoh Dompreh argued that even a dead goat like Mahama managed to stage a political return.
He explained that since Mahama once lost power and later reclaimed the presidency, Dr Bawumia, who has also left office after completing two terms as vice president, could follow a similar path.
He added that if the so-called dead sheep could return to lead the country and if Mahama could lose power and later bounce back, then he believes former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia can also make a comeback and become president.
Dr Bawumia, the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, is currently on a regional tour to meet delegates ahead of the party’s flagbearer election scheduled for January 31, 2025.
The race is expected to be competitive, with Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Agyepong, Bryan Acheampong, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum also vying for the slot.
Annoh Dompreh’s remarks have stirred criticism online, with many questioning the tone and direction of Bawumia’s communication team.
One user wrote, What is really wrong with Dr Bawumia and his communicators? K T Hammond, Wontumi, Abronye, KoKa, Atta Kyea, Annoh Dompre,h and the reserve bench is Afia Swar, Ghana Jollof, and Fante Comedy. What a solid team indeed.
Another user wondered how an MP could make such remarks about a sitting president. No wonder Emefa Hardcastle once told him not to be silly. How can someone of his stature say this about a sitting President? Is this the direction we want our political conversation to take?
A third user mocked his comment, Hehehehe… someone should tell him to stop this foolishness. What does the resurrection power of Jesus have to do with this? If they have turned into preachers, they should put up a cathedral and start preaching.
Others warned that such comments could weaken the NPP’s chances. Honourable, that is a very reckless remark. These minor communication errors will only damage your party. Ghanaians are already turning against the NPP, and the NDC is doing its part by managing the economy better at the moment.
