“I Lied” — Young Don Confesses in New Video

Controversial Ghanaian social media personality Young Don has surprised netizens with a new video in which he openly admits that he lied about suffering from a severe leg injury and other serious health issues that he previously shared online. The revelation has sparked heated debate across social platforms and reshaped the narrative surrounding his recent disappearance and fundraising appeals.

Young Don, known for his dramatic social media presence, returned to social media on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, after nearly seven months of absence. In the video shared on his official TikTok page, he revealed that his claims about a debilitating accident, a swollen leg, and doctors telling him he needed amputation were not true

From Health Crisis to Confession

Previously, Young Don attracted widespread sympathy when he claimed that he had been involved in a serious car accident in the United States, resulting in a severe leg injury that could lead to amputation if he did not undergo urgent surgery. He further stated that he had been stranded in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he sought medical care but ran out of funds, leaving him bankrupt and helpless.

In his earlier video statements, he also addressed past conflicts with public figures such as Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and controversial social commentators, issued apologies, and leveraged the narrative of being in a dire health crisis.

However, in his latest video, Young Don unequivocally denied that he ever suffered any severe illness or visited a doctor for a life-threatening condition. He said that he had never been in a situation that required amputation, and that the viral health claims were fabricated.

What Young Don Said

In the video, Young Don displayed his Ghanaian National ID to prove that he had returned to Ghana and was no longer facing a medical crisis abroad. He also denied rumours that he was deported from the United States, clarifying that he had travelled to South Africa for personal reasons, including to be with his romantic partner, and had planned to return to Ghana later.

Young Don claimed that his initial health story was a setup intended to gauge public reaction and to test how Ghanaians would respond if they believed he was genuinely in trouble. He stated that he did not receive any donations from well-wishers and that his family had pulled back support, which contributed to the public assumption that he was struggling financially due to his “health struggles”.

Public Reaction and Backlash

The video confession has triggered mixed reactions online. Some social media users are mocking Young Don’s admission, questioning his motives and criticising the perceived deception. Comments trending on platforms include users suggesting he created a “settings guy” persona, a term used locally to describe someone seen as staging situations for sympathy, while others joked about his actual location in South Africa.

Critics have also pointed out that the episode has damaged his credibility and questioned his responsibility for misleading the public. Yet, some supporters have urged netizens to temper their judgment and consider that mental health and reputation pressures can influence people’s decisions in unpredictable ways, such as publicly embellishing distress.

Young Don and Ongoing Controversies

This latest development comes amid a broader ongoing debate featuring reactions from Ghanaian influencers, commentators, and even other social media personalities who have weighed in on Young Don’s initial health claims and subsequent confession.

As the story continues to trend across social platforms, many are anticipating further clarification from Young Don about his motivations, especially given the previously emotional and dramatic nature of his public pleas. For now, his vow to step forward with the truth marks another chapter in an already controversial public journey.
